Kia is committed to an electric future and it already offers a number of hybrid vehicles and three fully electric models.
The Kia Soul EV
The most affordable electric Kia model is the Soul EV. For many years, the Soul has been a favorite in the sub-compact segment due to its young and funky style and this continues to be true in 2022. The current generation of the Soul is offered in an electric variant that combines style, practicality, Eco-friendliness, and affordability. Powered by a 201-horsepower electric motor on the front axle, the Kia Soul EV is capable of driving up to 383 kilometers on a full charge. Once depleted, its 64 kWh battery can be charged back up to 80% in only 54 minutes with a level 3 charger or to 100% in a little over 6 hours in a residential level 2 charge point.
The Kia Niro EV
The Kia Niro will enter an all-new generation in 2023 and the first units of this model are set to arrive shortly. This new version of the electric compact crossover will continue to offer a sensible option to buyers who need a comfortable vehicle with lots of cargo space, but it will now do so with a more distinctive exterior design. Under the hood, the Niro EV will continue to be powered by the same 201 horsepower motor as the Soul EV, but its battery will be slightly larger at 64.8 kWh, which will give it an estimated range of about 407 kilometers.
The Kia EV6
The new Kia EV6 is the first Kia electric vehicle to be developed from the ground up as an EV, without having to share its platform with vehicles powered by combustion engines. This allows it to be more efficient and to pack a larger available 77.4 kWh battery. The standard battery is a 55 kWh unit that gives the EV6 a range of 373 kilometers and the larger one can increase this number up to 499 kilometers. Since it is one of the rare EVs to use an 800-volt architecture, the EV6 can charge much quicker than most of its competitors, taking only 18 minutes to go from 10% to 80% charge with a level 3 charging station.
